Giving

Why We Give

As Christians, we recognize everything we have comes from God, and we are simply sharing these gifts for Kingdom work. Through our tithes and offerings, we demonstrate in a tangible way our love for God and our neighbors. Each year, we ask our members to commit to their tithes and offerings for the coming year in support of our church's ministry and mission. We do this for three reasons:

  1. All we have is a gift from God, so we believe that giving to God's work is an act of worship.
  2. At Spring Hill, giving is an expectation of membership. The church does not specify how much an individual should give, but we hope each person will commit a percentage of their income and increase that amount as they are able.
  3. Annual giving makes possible: worship, programs for children and students, Bible studies, small groups, pastoral care and support, mission trips, community service, and building and operational needs.

Fellowship Renovation Project

Our exiting Fellowship Building was built in 1986. It has been well-maintained and is an integral part of our ministries of the church and community. We are excited to begin this project in the fall of 2022 with a goal of having it completed by the summer of 2023.

Plans for the Renovation

The building is still in good condition so the updates that we are making will help bring the building up to date, comply with updated ADA standards, add more efficient workspaces and storage areas, install a shower and flex space, and create a more open floor space.

Giving FAQ

  1. How do I set up a recurring gift?
    • To set up a recurring gift, click here and select the "sign in" option to create an account or to sign in to your existing account. Then, scroll down to "recurring" and follow the on-screen instructions. For additional help, contact the church office.
  2. How do I receive credit for a non-cash gift?
    • Non-cash gifts are not reflected on the yearly contribution statements. There are three ways that you can reflect these gifts for tax purposes:
      • The donor can be reimbursed for the purchase and then donate that money back to the general budget.
      • The donor can decide to make a gift above tithing to cover the expense for the expense.
      • If the donor doesn't opt to get reimbursed, the church office can add the expense to a tracking list and issue the donor a Non-Cash Gift Form for tax purposes.
  3. Who do I contact about giving or financial questions at SHUMC?
    • For questions about giving, you may email  or call the church office.
